Jared Allen has been one of the most successful pass rushers of the past decade, with Kansas City and Minnesota, primarily, but also doing good work with Chicago and Carolina the last couple of seasons. He announced his retirement yesterday, bringing to an end a stellar 12-year career.
Allen made the announcement in appropriately colorful fashion -- sharing a video of himself riding off into the sunset on horseback.
Allen reached double-digit sacks eight times in those 12 seasons, and his teams finished in the top 10 in sacks seven times out of 12. Since coming to Minnesota back in 2008, only once did his team finish below-average in sacks.
