Andrew Luck disappointed last year, hurt for much of the year and not getting enough out of veteran Andre Johnson or rookie Philip Dorsett. How are things looking for the Colts passing game in 2016?
According to this report from Colts.com, it's a mixed bag thus far. Luck is healthy and looking good, so there's that.
But Dorsett's second preseason is off to an inauspicious start after he suffered a hamstring injury yesterday. Donte Moncrief is sidelined after undergoing turf-toe surgery this offseason. As a result, former Patriot fourth-rounder Josh Boyce is getting first-team reps right now.
The most important thing to all of this is Luck, as well as the offensive line protecting him. Indianapolis used its first pick on center Ryan Kelly, and he's expected to be an immediate starter. Good early reports from Luck, too.
Those in leagues where tight ends get 1.5 points per reception might want to monitor Jack Doyle this offseason. He's slated to be the team's No. 2 tight end behind Dwayne Allen, and the Colts could run a lot of sets with two tight ends. That worked out well for Coby Fleener at times the last few years.
Nothing earth shattering here, but there's plenty of potential in this passing game, assuming players are healthy when the preseason rolls around.
