Supplemental Draft

Next Josh Gordon unlikely

We're just over a week away from the NFL Draft. The supplemental draft, that is, which seldom produces players of note (although Josh Gordon is the recent exception worth mentioning).

The draft will be held on July 14th, and there are six players eligible. The potentially interesting fantasy prospects are wide receiver Rashaun Simonise, from Canada, and Sam Houston State running back Jalen Overstreet. "Potential" because of the positions they play, but realistically no one is going to touch Overstreet, who faces a felony indictment for credit card abuse.

Simonise could draw some interest, after going for 1,306 yards and 11 TDs at the University of Calgary. But no one will give up a premium pick on that; maybe some team surrenders late-rounder and brings him in for a look see.

Only one player has been selected in the supplemental draft since Gordon was taken by the Browns in 2012. The Rams used a fifth-rounder on tackle Isaiah Battle a year ago.

But in addition to Gordon, there have been other interesting picks in the past. Some of the best are highlighted at this link.
