Adam Vinatieri says he’d like to stick around long enough to become the league’s all-time leading scorer. That might require him sticking around until he’s 46, but he might just be able to pull it off.
Morten Andersen is currently the record holder, with 2,544 career points. Vinatieri is 240 points back, so it’s unlikely he would pass Anderson until the 2019 season. He’s also 130 points behind Gary Anderson, whom he’ll likely pass next year.
Vinatieri is 43, but he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. He’s hit all 13 of his field goals this year, including 5 from 50-plus.
Since the start of the 2014 season, in fact, Vinatieri has been the league’s most accurate kicker.
