I like to check in every so often to see how teams are doing converting their 2-point attempts. For years, the success rate has hovered at or slightly below 50 percent league-wide. But in 2016, it seems, teams are getting better.
Through Week 9, NFL teams collectively have attempted 49 tw0-pointers after touchdowns. They've converted an impressive 30 of them -- over 61 percent. That's much better than a year ago, where on the season teams were a collective 41 of 85 (48 percent).
You may not be surprised to hear that the two best teams in this area happen to have the best running quarterbacks in the league (Buffalo and Carolina). Both have converted all 3 of their attempts. Pittsburgh, which attempted the most 2-pointers a year ago, is the only other team with more than 1 attempt that's converted all of them (2 for 2). Oakland (3 for 4) and Baltimore (2 for 3) are also over 50 percent with multiple attempts.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Cardinals and Titans (both 0 for 2) and Rams and Chargers (both 0 for 1) have been the least successful.
