The early injury reports are filtering in, and there are a couple of noteworthy developments. A couple involve quarterbacks who were pushing to play, but now seems certain they won't. And there's a report on the Green Bay backfield, too.
Adam Schefter says that Marcus Mariota (hamstring) and Derek Carr (back) will be inactive. The Carr news was expected, but seems like maybe he will return next week. Mariota was pushing to play, but it should instead be Matt Cassel. Cassel didn't look ready to play when he relieved Mariota last week. Should be better with a week of practice, but a clear negative for Tennessee's offense.
Ian Rapoport is reporting that Aaron Jones worked as the Packers first-team running back in practice this week. This is potentially big. Ty Montgomery is doubtful and those guys seldom play. Jamaal Williams practiced fully and has been the No. 2, but Jones was better in the preseason and last week. Bottom line: risk in starting any Green Bay runner. But with Rapoport's report, there seems to be some upside with Jones (and considerable risk with Williams). Personally I am taking the plunge on Jones over Elijah McGuire, who we know is the No. 2 for the Jets. With Jones, he MAY be the No. 1.
Two M receivers who were questionable, Martavis Bryant and Marqise Lee, are expected to play.
