Quincy Enunwa has re-signed with the Jets. And while he doesn’t move the needle much – wouldn’t be drafted in most fantasy leagues today – he’s worth a brief discussion.

Enunwa recall, played pretty well back in 2016, catching 58 passes for 857 yards and 4 TDs. Not earth-shattering numbers, but he was playing on a really bad Jets team. He was supposed to be their No. 1 last year but missed the entire season with a neck injury that required surgery.

The Jets are confident enough in his health that they tendered him at the second-round level. The deal he signed is for one year and $2.9 million. That’s a nice little chunk of change. They want to bring him to camp and see how he fits in.

They have other wide receivers. They signed Terrelle Pryor (who improbably caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards for a 1-15 Cleveland team two years ago). They’ve got Robby Anderson, who needs to clean up some legal issues but showed great ability to get downfield and make plays last year. Anderson is a former undrafted free agent, but he’s really good.

They’ve got Jermaine Kearse, who played surprisingly well last year, I thought. And they’ve got a host of youngsters who don’t look particularly likely to play big roles this year.

But Enunwa gets added into this group. If he looks healthy and plays like he did back in 2016, I think he’ll be one of the top 3 receivers. Kearse is due $5 million this year; he could be the guy who ends up getting trimmed.

Back in 2016, 41 wide receivers saw at least 100 targets. Enunwa was in that group, and his pass plays ended up averaging 8.2 yards – that’s what tended to happen when they threw his way. That put him right in the middle of that group, and I think that’s pretty impressive, considering he was on a lesser team that finished with bottom-5 passing numbers.

I’m not drafting Enunwa today, but I’ll be interested to see what he looks like in their early preseason games.
