The suspensions are piling up, and the NFC South is leading the way. That division will be missing five players at the start of the season, including three of the big-name variety.

Atlanta, in fact, is the only team in that division that won’t have to go without a star player at the beginning of the year. Tampa Bay (Jameis Winston), New Orleans (Mark Ingram) and Carolina (Thomas Davis) will all be missing key starters for 3-4 games.

The AFC North is the division least affected by suspensions. Cincinnati’s rogue linebacker, Vontaze Burfict, is the only player in that division who’ll be serving a suspension at the start of the year.

For fantasy purposes, Julian Edelman is one of the most notable suspensions. The Patriots will need to find another slot receiver who can catch 5-plus passes per game for the first month of the season.

The Packers won’t have Aaron Jones for the first two weeks, increasing the odds of Ty Montgomery or Jamaal Williams becoming the featured runner on that team.
