They're dealing with injuries and facing a tough opponent, but if you need to use either Aaron Rodgers (knee) or Davante Adams (shoulder), the news is good. Those guys are both expected to start today's game against the Vikings.
Rodgers practiced on Saturday. He's dealing with swelling and soreness in his knee, and it might bother him for a while. But he'll start, and the Packers wouldn't be putting him out there unless they were comfortable he can move around at something close to normal, and not be risking a more severe injury by playing on it.
Presumably Rodgers won't run as much as he might normally, and there's always the risk of a big, low hit taking him out of action. But I think unless your alternative is a really good one, you're probably going to be best off using Rodgers, who is a good bet for multiple touchdown passes and at least average yards in any games he plays.
With Adams, that injury always seemed kind of minor, since he played the remainder of the game with it last week. And he seems at less risk of aggravating it by running routes and catching passes, and he could still be a quality receiver even if it ended up being DeShone Kizer in the lineup. He'll be dealing with Xavier Rhodes, so not a great situation for him. But you don't drop him behind just any marginal wideout -- has to be a really good option.
The rankings for both of these players in the Friday update, then, is appropriate. Both should be in the majority of lineups. I'm holding Rodgers out of the one league I have him in, but my backup is Philip Rivers; quite easy to make that choice. Everyone doesn't have that option.
Other injury notes:
Marlon Mack (hamstring) is expected to play for the Colts. Still likely to be a committee, though.
Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) will play.
Marcus Mariota (elbow) sounds on the iffy to doubtful side, and he's got a lot less upside than Roethlisberger. Shouldn't be used.
LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) will play for the Lions, for those with no choice but to use a big, slow back who's part of three-man committee in the league's worst running game.
DeSean Jackson (shoulder) should play.
Sounds like Rex Burkhead (concussion) will be cleared to play. That's a 4:25 Eastern kickoff, however, so if you're hoping to use Burkhead, make sure you have an alternate option if he winds up being inactive.
