Question

Who’s the only quarterback who started playoff games in all three seasons of the USFL and also started playoff games in three seasons in the NFL? In the NFL, this quarterback was best known for his work with two different teams based in the same division. He was 0-3 as a starting quarterback in NFL playoff games.

Answer

Bobby Hebert, who helped the Michigan Panthers win the first USFL championship. In the NFL, Hebert went 0-3 starting playoff games for New Orleans. He later put up big passing numbers in the run-and-shoot for Atlanta. Hebert's two notable NFL teams will play in the third of the Thanksgiving Day games on Thursday.

LOVE USFL trivia. Got this one right. A lot of great players came through the USFL. Oh, like Jim Kelly, Greg Zimmerman, Herschel Walker, Kelvin Bryant, Anthony Carter, oh, and some guy called Reggie White.

Jeff Pearlman wrote a book about the USFL that came out a few months back. I'm reading it now. Birmingham Stallions had the vision to make Jerry Rice the No. 1 overall pick of the 1985 draft but couldn't sign him. Donald Trump (who knew essentially about football) signed Doug Flutie to a big contract without consulting with his coaches. That annoyed Walt Michaels (their head coach), who liked Randall Cunningham a lot more.
