The Monday night teams have submitted their injury reports, and it looks like a pair of speedy change-of-pace backs are ready to return – Chris Thompson for Washington and Darren Sproles for Philadelphia.
For Washington, Thompson has been practicing fully all week. He’ll likely be incorporated heavily into the offense. For most of the year, they’ve been banging away with Adrian Peterson. Now they can work in Thompson as more of a run-catch option. He was one of the best in that role last year, averaging 29 rushing and 51 receiving yards in 10 games, with 6 TDs. The previous season (2016) he averaged 22 rushing and 22 receiving yards, with 5 TDs in 16 games.
Washington has a pair of slot receivers, and they’re both questionable with ankle injuries: Jamison Crowder and Trey Quinn. They’ve both been limited in practice, but Jay Gruden indicates Crowder is the healthier of the two.
“Right now with Trey being limited and Crowder being semi-limited, we'll see, probably this week play the healthiest one,” Gruden says on the team’s website. “If we can play both, we'll figure out a way to do that. The good thing about Jamison, he can play all three positions. Quinn can probably play all three also. He's a very smart guy but we'll just have to figure out where we want to put them as far as matchups are concerned. We could play both.”
Jordan Reed has been looking like a top-5 or top-10 tight end recently, going over 70 yards in both of Colt McCoy’s games. But Reed is questionable on the injury report with a back injury. He’s been limited in practice.
For the Eagles, Josh Adams shows up as questionable with some kind of hip issue. It apparently occurred in practice, because Adams wasn’t mentioned on Thursday or Friday. He’s listed as a limited participant today. He’s likely fine, and should be their main back.
Darren Sproles earlier in the week that that he’s ready to play. Sproles has been out since Week 1 with a hamstring injury. Sproles was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday and practiced fully today; he’s questionable. Some chance that Sproles will be their No. 2 back in a lot of the remaining games – a change-of-pace guy off the bench. I remember being surprised how much Sproles played in the opener (he was ahead of Corey Clement in the batting order at that time).
Philadelphia lists cornerbacks Sidney Jones (hamstring) and Jalen Mills (foot) as out. Linebacker Jordan Hicks (calf) is out. Defensive end Michael Bennett (foot) is questionable.
