Question

The Broncos and Raiders (who play tonight) have competed against each other in the same division for 59 years. Who is the only Hall of Famer who played in regular-season games for both of these franchises?

Answer

Willie Brown. Coming out of Grambling in 1963, Brown wasn’t drafted. He was signed and cut by the Oilers. He signed with Denver and developed into an all-AFL player. He was traded in 1967 to Oakland and became an even more notable player there, helping that team win its first championship. In Super Bowl XI, he returned a Fran Tarkenton interception 75 yards for a touchdown.

Pretty sure Jerry Rice played for both but not sure if he made it to regular season with the donkeys

Apparently, Lyle Alzado isn't in the Hall of Fame. (Although, as I think of it, he may not make it in the same way that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens might not get to their sport's Hall of Fame.) As to the above comment, I don't recall Rice playing for the Broncos.

I don’t think he caught a pass in the regular season though

I was aware people might zero in on Jerry Rice. I put in the "played in regular-season games" to try to scare them off.

I will go in and tweak wording. As Dennis points out, Willie Brown won three Super Bowls with the Raiders, but only one as a player. He was drafted in the early '60s, so he was done as a player before the Super Bowl wins over Philly and Washington.
