I’m not sure how my kicker board will shake out. Too early for that. But Greg Zuerlein will be in the top tier.

Zuerlein is one of the better kickers. He’s got plenty of power and he’s one of the more accurate guys. And they’ve been getting him on the field a ton since Sean McVay showed up. The Rams attempted 43 field goals in 2017, and they attempted 41 last year.

In 2017, Zuerlein scored 158 points in 14 games before missing the final two with a back injury. That’s over 11 points per game, which has never been done by a kicker before.

Zuerlein missed five games last year with a groin injury last year, but when he was out there, he was almost as good, scoring 115 points in 11 games. So that’s back-to-back seasons that he’s averaged over 10.4 points per game.

The NFL has been around since 1920. None of those other teams averaged 10.4 kicking points in a season.

Injuries/durability will need to be weighed, but I’ll definitely have Zuerlein in that top group of kickers – guys who are worth selecting before the last-round rush.
