Question

Joe Webb, Geno Smith, Kerry Collins, Matt Schaub. What do those four players have in common?

Answer

They are the four replacements who ended the longest starting streaks by quarterbacks in NFL history. Webb (Brett Favre), Smith (Eli Manning), Collins (Peyton Manning) and Schaub (Joe Flacco). Smith and Schaub are both in position to perhaps become the first quarterback to end two separate streaks over 100 games. Schaub likely will be Matt Ryan’s backup. Smith has signed with the Seahawks, competing to back up Russell Wilson. Both quarterbacks were in position to do this last year but it didn’t happen (Smith was the No. 2 with the Chargers, behind Philip Rivers).
