Veteran starting quarterback streaks are falling by the wayside these days. Two weeks ago it was Matt Ryan, this week it's Matthew Stafford. He's got fractured bones in his back, which wasn't discovered until a Friday MRI. Initially it seemed like just general soreness; now you wonder when he'll play again.
If those bones need to heal before he's cleared, Stafford is going to miss multiple games. That kind of sticks a fork in the Lions' playoff hopes, slim though they probably were, and is a significant negative for the fantasy fortunes of Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. Jeff Driskel takes over, and when he started the last six games in Cincinnati a year ago, he passed for more than 200 yards only once and threw a total of 6 TDs.
Golladay is a top talent, but I think you need to drop him a way. He was a borderline top 10 receiver in the rankings initially; I think I'd slot him down around 26-27 right now (behind former teammate Golden Tate). Jones falls down out of the top 35.
Not a lot of other news; most of the developments were expected:
Lamar Jackson and Marquise Brown, both questionable, should play for Baltimore.
LeVeon Bell and Chris Herndon should be good to go for the Jets.
Amari Cooper (knee) will play for Dallas.
Jacoby Brissett (knee) is out.
George Kittle and Robbie Gould are doubtful for San Francisco tomorrow night, as discussed elsewhere on this page.
