Jared Goff is throwing for tons of yards but not touchdowns. Entering tonight’s game, the Rams are on pace to throw for almost 4,600 yards but only 17 TD passes. That’s not the way it usually goes.
Since 2000, 78 teams have averaged at least 280 passing yards per game. Only six of those teams didn’t throw at least 25 touchdown passes. And all of them finished with at least 21 TD passes. Unless there’s a late splurge by the Rams, they’re going to fall short of that mark.
The other team in the same city is suffering through some of the same kind of issues. The Chargers are also averaging 287 passing yards per game, and Philip Rivers is on pace to finish with about 23 TD passes.
Here are the 19 teams (since 2000) that have averaged at least 280 passing yards but haven’t thrown at least 28 TD passes.
