The 2020 season probably will include a league suspension for New York kicker Aldrick Rosas. He was arrested on Monday after an alleged hit-and-run incident, and a newspaper report indicated he was previously charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the incident Monday in Chico, Calif., the report indicates Rosas was driving erratically at about 100 mph, ran a red light and struck a pickup struck. Rosas drove away, and tried to flee on foot after his own car broke down.

According to a report by Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media Rosas in 2016 was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over .08. Rosas pled guilty and was sentenced to 30 months of probation. That was before Rosas entered the league, and Rosenblatt indicates the Giants were aware of that incident.

This most recent incident will get the attention of the league, probably resulting in a multiple-game suspension.

The Giants almost certainly will need to find another kicker to fill in, and with Rosas being a nominal player anyway, the team could simply choose to move on.

Rosas was a Pro Bowl player in 2018, hitting 32 of 33 field goals, including 4-5 from 50-plus. But he’s been a lesser kicker in his other two seasons, hitting only 30 of 42 attempts.

In the last three years, only nine teams have failed to convert over 72 percent of their field goals. The Giants are the only team that’s failed to do it twice.
