Chargers TE Henry to play 2020 season on franchise tag

The Los Angeles Chargers and tight end HUNTER HENRY were not able to agree on a long-term deal before the deadline to sign franchise-tagged players arrived on Wednesday. Henry will have a one-year base salary of $10.6 million, which makes him the league’s highest-paid tight end based on annual average salary. Henry, 25, is entering his fifth year in the NFL and coming off a season in which he set career highs for receptions and yards (despite missing four games with a knee injury).
