Question
The Bears last week released Ted Ginn. He’s caught passes for six different teams (Bears, Dolphins, 49ers, Panthers, Cardinals and Saints). In the Super Bowl era, who are the only two players with over 400 career catches who’ve played for seven different teams? Both were chosen in the first round of the 1989 draft.
Answer
Eric Metcalf and Andre Rison. The most promininent pass-catching work for both of these players occurred with the Atlanta Falcons, and they both also played for Cleveland and Green Bay. (While Metcalf played in one game with the Packers, he didn’t actually catch a pass there). In this vein, former fullback Lorenzo Neal caught passes for seven different teams, but Neal finished his career with 199 receptions. (There could be some less-notable players who bounced around, catching passes for seven different teams.)
