Question
Brandin Cooks had a 1,000-yard receiving season for the New England team that lost in the Super Bowl against the Eagles, and he also went over 1,000 yards for the Rams team that made it to the Super Bowl. Who are the only other two players who’ve had 1,000-yard receiving seasons for two different Super Bowl franchises? Both players are retired. For one, his two Super Bowl teams will play against each other this week.
Answer
Jerry Rice and Tony Martin. Rice with the 49ers and Raiders. Martin was a quarterback in college (Mesa State) who converted to wide receiver in the pros. He went over 1,100 yards for the Chargers and Falcons in the years those teams went to Super Bowls in the ‘90s. Those teams will play this week. (Martin, by the way, also had a 1,000-yard receiving season with Miami.)
