Stefon Diggs had a really weird season last year. On the one hand, he piled up a ton of catches and yards. But at the same time, he wasn’t a reliable touchdown scorer.

Some of the numbers are almost hard to believe. Diggs led the league in both catches and receiving yards. He caught 31 percent of his team’s passes, the highest work-share number in the league. He was the clear No. 1 option in that offense, even when opponents tried to take him away.

But Diggs didn’t dominate the touches in the red zone. He caught only 8 TDs, and three came in a Week 16 blowout win at New England. The Bills finished with 40 touchdown passes, yet Diggs caught only 8 of them.

There were 42 players in the league last year who caught more than 20 percent of their teams’ touchdown passes last year, yet the Bills didn’t have one of those players.

(Two teams, by the way, didn’t even have anyone catch 20 percent of their touchdown passes, which is why you see little black dots in front of Kareem Hunt and N’Keal Harry on the chart below – they’re listed only so that all 32 teams are represented.)
