Question

Seattle this year drafted only three players. What’s the only team that’s ever picked even fewer players in a draft?

Answer

New Orleans Saints. In 1999, Mike Ditka traded away all of the team’s picks, moving up to select Ricky Williams. Four other teams have chosen three players – 1997 San Francisco, 1997 Denver, 2003 Washington and the 2009 Jets. Note that with the 2021 Seahawks, they didn’t make their first choice until 56th overall and didn’t have a third-round pick, so in terms of overall draft value (using any of the trading charts that place values on draft slots) this most-recent Seattle draft was the leanest in league history (the pick positions, anyway – key will be how well safety Jamal Adams plays).
