Question

Who was the last player to finish a season as the highest-scoring wide receiver (PPR scoring) but who otherwise never ranked in the top 10 in scoring at his position? This player was never selected in the regular NFL draft, and he had his big season with his second team (in the ‘90s).

Answer

Rob Moore. Coming out of Syracuse, Moore was picked by the Jets in the supplemental draft in 1990. With Arizona in 1997, Moore caught 97 passes for 1,584 yards and 8 TDs. He inched over the 1,000-yard mark in two other seasons, but with just 6 and 4 TDs. Nat Moore (Dolphins, 1977) and Louis Lipps (Steelers, 1985) have also been No. 1 receivers in one season without ever being in the top 10 in any other years.
