Question
Right now there are three divisions with two Super Bowl winning head coaches -- AFC North (Tomlin, Harbaugh), AFC West (Reid, Gruden) and NFC South (Payton, Arians). What two divisions in the past have had three head coaches with Super Bowl rings? Both divisions came before the expansion to 32 teams. For the much harder of the two divisions, two of the coaches won their Super Bowls with other teams.
Answer
In the 1987-88 seasons, the NFC East featured Tom Landry, Joe Gibbs and Bill Parcells. The AFC West in 2001 (the year before the move to eight divisions) had Mike Shanahan, Dick Vermeil and Mike Holmgren. Vermeil and Holmgren won their titles with other teams.
