We're just a couple of hours away from the bulk of Week 2 games. I'm not seeing a ton of injury developments we didn't know about (though I'll post in the comments below if there's a surprise inactive). Here are some of the main stories being reported this morning.

  • Elijah Mitchell should "carry the load" at running back against the Eagles this week, according to Ian Rapoport. Well...yeah? The only guy who played over him last week is out for the season, and Mitchell went for over 100 yards. Why wouldn't he be the main back. People may make Kyle Shanahan out to be some kind of unpredictable wild man, but no instances leap to mind of him having a running back rush for 100 yards one week and then suddenly demoting him behind a guy who was inactive (Trey Sermon) or barely played (JaMycal Hasty) a week later. But maybe I'm missing someone. That said, it's not necessarily a great matchup (at Philadelphia) and if Mitchell were to go out and carry 8 times for 17 yards in the first half, things could change after that. But yes, if you're starting a San Francisco running back in Week 2, don't choose the guy who was a healthy scratch in Week 1.

  • Rapoport also says Justin Fields will see increased reps in Week 2 against Cincinnati. So if you were forcing Andy Dalton into lineups in a revenge game against his former team (anyone?), be careful, it's very possible that if the Bengals get near the goal line it will be Fields on the ...field. Just another ground-breaking piece of news today.

  • Trey Lance will probably come in sometimes for Jimmy Garoppolo today. This wasn't reported by anyone that I've seen, I'm just saying it here. Because it's COMMON SENSE.

  • Eric Fisher should be in the lineup for the Colts today, facing the Seahawks. It's a plus for Carson Wentz's protection and the Indianapolis offense. Presumably Fisher is healthy coming off a torn Achilles.

  • Bradley Chubb is a game-time decision for the Broncos against the Jaguars. His absence would be a plus for Trevor Lawrence, although Denver's defense did fine without him against the Giants last week.

  • Jamison Crowder (groin) is expected to play for the Jets. It's a plus for their offense, although his presence would figure to mostly negatively affect Braxton Berrios (who wouldn't play as much), not Corey Davis or Elijah Moore (not that Moore did anything in Week 1).

  • Some of the other injury news (like the Cowboys and Vikings being without several injured defensive players) was known on Friday.
