The injury updates are filtering in; there seem to be a lot. It's arguably the toughest part of fantasy football: knowing whether a guy playing hurt is going to mostly be a decoy, or will play his usual snaps and have a really good game. I take it on a case-by-case basis, favoring healthy options when I have the luxury of a similar choice. Doesn't always happen, though.

  • Lamar Jackson (back) is expected to play. I think there's a chance he's limited (maybe he doesn't run as much, tries to reduce the number of hits he takes) but should play and be something close to normal.

  • Dalvin Cook (ankle) is expected to play. Since Minnesota has a viable, capable replacement they could plug in, Cook being active suggests he's ready to go and should be in line for something close to his normal workload.

  • Melvin Gordon (ribs, leg) is expected to play. To me Gordon is a marginal enough option (in a committee, against Baltimore) that I'm just benching him anyway, and I like Javonte Williams a little more.

  • Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) isn't playing for San Francisco. That waiver pickup isn't working out so hot. Trey Sermon should start and be the main runner. San Francisco has other backs but last week those guys just played special teams.

  • Darrell Henderson (ribs) is playing. I'd use him in what should be a leading role (maybe just 60-40 with Sony Michel) in a decent matchup for the offense.

  • Jonathan Taylor (knee) is expected to play. The Colts are 0-3 and need a win, I'd expect Taylor to play something close to his usual role, with Nyheim Hines in passing situations.

  • Tyler Lockett (hip) expected to play for Seattle. Since Lockett is one I've been burned on in the past with him playing hurt and being more of a decay, I'm not inclined to use him. Could still be good, but it will probably be on my bench.

  • George Kittle (calf) is also expected to play. Tough guy and a big NFC West game, and I'm not a doctor but it seems like the kind of thing that might limit or slow him but is less likely to result in an aggravation where he's sidelined. Some risk but TE is a shallow position; am I really going to bench Kittle for some guy ranked 12th-15th? I'm not.

  • Josh Jacobs (toe) is a game-time decision. Basically you can only plan to use Jacobs if you have someone decent in the same game, so Peyton Barber or maybe a starting wide receiver if a flex spot is available. But I feel like Jacobs is more likely to be inactive, so I wouldn't wait for him.

  • Rob Gronkowski (ribs) is out, I think people knew this.

  • Justin Fields is starting for the Bears, Nick Foles will be the backup. Fields starting was the guess when we put out the Weekly, so players are ranked accordingly.
