Question
The Pro Bowl will be played today. Who was the last player who scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl in the same year? A difficult question, so hints are in order. The player caught the game-winning touchdown in the Pro Bowl. In the Super Bowl, he caught a touchdown that put his team ahead with less than 3 minutes left.
Answer
Larry Fitzgerald, who helped Arizona reach its only Super Bowl in 2009 (against Pittsburgh). That was the last time the Pro Bowl was played after the Super Bowl. Since that time, it’s been moved into the down week between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. Fitzgerald was named the MVP of that Pro Bowl. The last player to both win a Super Bowl and also be named MVP of the Pro Bowl was kicker Garo Yepremian of the Dolphins in January, 1974.
