Question
What player during his career had seasons with 20-plus interceptions for three different teams in the same division? This is an experts-only kind of question, so some hints are in order. The quarterback played his college ball at Wake Forest and spent 16 years in the NFL; 16 was also his jersey number. He finished with a career record of 52-100-7 and never participated in a playoff game.
Answer
Norm Snead. Drafted No. 2 overall by Washington in 1961, Snead began his career by throwing 20-plus interceptions in each of his first three years. He had four of those seasons with Philadelphia. His best season came with the Giants in 1972, with him compiling an 8-5-0 record, with 17 TDs and 12 interceptions. Alas, he went 1-5-1 the next year, with 7 touchdowns and 22 picks. Only one other quarterback has thrown 20-plus interceptions eight times, and only one other quarterback has thrown 20-interceptions in seasons for three different teams.
