Question
Pittsburgh last year was the only team with only one 100-yard rusher. Not for a game but for the entire year – Najee Harris was the only player on that team who finished the 17-game season with over 100 rushing yards. What was the last other team to do this? For this other team, they had a Hall of Fame player starting at running back, and it occurred in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Answer
Arizona, with Edgerrin James as their featured running back. The Cardinals didn’t have mobile quarterbacks, which is a necessity for this kind of thing. In 2006, Arizona’s 2nd-leading rusher was Matt Leinart, with 49 rushing yards. In 2007, J.J. Arrington carried 26 times for 78 yards. In the 32-team era, this has also happened with the 2002 Bills and 2005 Browns. It happened with the Colts in 1998-99, with Marshall Faulk the main back on one of those teams and James taking over the next year.
