Question
Sony Michel signed with the Chargers, making him a candidate to maybe play in a Super Bowl with a third different franchise. Previously, he won Super Bowls with both the Patriots and Rams. As it stands, who is the only running back who has played in Super Bowls with three different teams? One of those games came before the merger. This player ran for more than 20 yards in only two of his 22 career playoff games. In his most notable postseason game, he caught 7 passes for 137 yards in an NFC Championship, scoring all 3 of his career postseason touchdowns.
Answer
Preston Pearson. A 12th-round pick by the Colts in 1967, he played in Super Bowl III. He won a pair of Super Bowls with the Steelers, and played in two more Super Bowls with Dallas, including the win over the Broncos and the 35-31 loss against Pittsburgh. When Pearson was with the Colts, Chuck Noll was the defensive coordinator; that played a role in the Steelers trading for him in 1970. When the Cowboys signed Pearson, they released Jim Zorn to make room for him on the roster.
