N.Y. JETS (at Green Bay)
The Jets are 3-2, and their skill player selections the last couple of years have all been contributing. This is a tough test, however, on the road against a ticked-off Packers team. Green Bay hasn't ...
... played great to this point, with its sole convincing win against an offensively challenged Bears team. But its defense has been solid, allowing an average of 19 points and under 2 TDs per game. Below-average situation. ... The Packers have been suspect against the run. They held Tampa Bay to just 34 yards on the ground, but all four of their other opponents have rushed for at least 125 yards, with Chicago and New England running backs combining for over 150 in each of their games. The Jets will want to test that, although their own running game has been iffy. They were under 100 yards in each of their first four games, and with just 1 TD, until busting out for 135 yards and 5 TDs against the Dolphins. Breece Hall led the way, rushing for 97 yards and a touchdown, while also setting up Michael Carter to punch in a couple of short scores. But Carter wasn't otherwise effective, with his 10 carries going for just 21 yards, and this backfield ...

... has been swinging in favor of the rookie the past few weeks. He's playing more, and has piled up 163 rushing yards the last two games, with a score in each, compared to 36 for Carter. He's also making a bigger impact as a receiver right now. Both have caught 17 passes, but Hall (with a 100-yard day last week) has more than twice as many yards, and the pair's receiving touchdown. Overall numbers won't be as good as last week (the Dolphins are struggling defensively and might have been shaken by losing their quarterback on his first snap). But Hall looks like a pretty solid starter right now. ... Zach Wilson has won his 2 starts this year, but not with big numbers. He averages 231 passing yards, with 3 total touchdowns. He just managed the game while the Dolphins struggled behind their third-string quarterback last week. Wilson will likely need to do a little more to get a win at Green Bay, and he needs to show he can do it before anyone counts on him too heavily for a fantasy lineup. With Aaron Rodgers on the other side, reasonable to think Wilson sneaks up and finishes with better numbers, perhaps 240 yards and 1-2 TDs. Wilson doesn't belong up with the quarterbacks who threw for 270-plus against Green Bay (Cousins, Brady), but he should be better than the two under 150 (Fields and Hoyer/Zappe). ... The Jets have a nice group of wide receivers. (New York's various backup quarterbacks, who routinely finish with strong numbers, have enjoyed them more than Wilson thus far.) But there's not a clear No. 1 right now. Corey Davis has been the best, up at 60 yards per game and with 2 TDs. Garrett Wilson is similar, up at 56 yards per game, also with 2 TDs. Elijah Moore is a step back at 41 yards, and with no touchdowns, but most of those players' numbers were generated with Joe Flacco. Passing production should be up in this one, but difficult to lock onto one of these players. All 4 TDs thrown against Green Bay have gone to wide receivers, but a small number regardless. ... Tyler Conklin was shut out last week, with the Jets going run-heavy. They'll need to pass more in this one, and Conklin prior to last week was averaging over 5 catches per game (3 for 52 in his lone game with Wilson). ... Greg Zuerlein has been perfect since being criticized by Robert Saleh for a Week 1 miss, kicking all 7 field goals and 12 extra points. That's over 8 per week. But unlikely he's that good at Lambeau. At home the Packers have allowed an average of 5 kicking points. ... The Jets Defense has 7 interceptions, surprising production (that was its season total a year ago). But those talents won't show up against Aaron Rodgers, who's thrown just 7 since the start of last season (and only 2 of those at home). He's a better matchup for sacks (11 this season), but New York has only 10. Braxton Berrios is one of the league's better returners, an All-Pro a year ago (with a 102-yard touchdown) and a couple of longer returns this season.
