Question

The Chargers used their first-round pick on Quentin Johnston from Texas Christian. In the fourth round, they selected another wide receiver from that school, Derius Davis. What is the only NFL team that has drafted two wide receivers from the same university, with both going on to have 1,000-yard seasons during their career?

Answer

Cincinnati Bengals. In 2001, the Bengals selected both Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (in the second and seventh rounds). Both played their college ball at Oregon State. Three other schools have used a first-round pick on a wide receiver, then gone back to the same school for another wide receiver later in the draft. It happened with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 (Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey from West Virginia), Colts in 2007 (Anthony Gonzalez and Roy Hall from Ohio State) and Bengals in 2000 (Peter Warrick and Ron Dugans from Florida State).
