Question
The Pro Football Writers Association started naming an All-Rookie team in 1974. In the ensuing 49 seasons, which team (among those that have been around for all 49 of those seasons) has had the fewest players named to that team? (The answer may surprise you, but then make a lot more sense as you think more about it.)
Answer
Pittsburgh. The Steelers have had only 29 players on those 49 All-Rookie teams. A contributing factor is likely that Pittsburgh over the years has been one of the winningest teams, making it harder for its rookies to carve out significant roles while also contributing to the team having fewer high picks.
