The Miami Dolphins (9-3) are tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the American Football Conference’s best record coming into Week 14. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys are at 9-3, one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the National Football Conference’s best record. The secret to their success? Being lights out on both offense and defense.

Pro Football Focus tweeted that the Cowboys, Dolphins, and the 49ers are the only teams ranked in the top five on offense and defense this season.

Powered by Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert, the Dolphins' offense is ranked second through Week 13. They lead the league in total yards (428.4) and passing yards (285.1) per game while ranking second in rushing yards (143.3) and points (32) per game.

Scoring 70 points against the Denver Broncos earlier in the season helped pull up their numbers. They also scored 45 points in their Week 13 game against the Washington Commanders.

The Dolphins' defense, led by Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard, Bradley Chubb, and Christian Wilkins, is ranked third overall. They allow the sixth-fewest total yards (300.2) and ninth-fewest passing yards (203.6) per game. Miami is also ranked eighth in rushing yards (96.6) allowed per game.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are ranked fourth in both offense and defense. Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Tony Pollard, and Brandin Cooks lead an offense ranked fifth in total yards (380.4), third in passing yards (263.4), 11th in rushing yards (117), and first in points (32.3) per game.

Conversely, Micah Parson, DeMarcus Lawrence, Stephon Gilmore, and DaRon Bland anchor a defense that allows the third-fewest total yards per game (287.1). They surrender the fifth-fewest passing yards (181.1), 12th in rushing yards (106), and fourth in points allowed (18.3) per game.

Finally, the San Francisco 49ers have the best-ranked offense and defense through Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season. Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle banner an offense ranked third in total yards (391.9), seventh in passing yards (255.1), fifth in rushing yards (136.8), and third in points (29.3) per game.

Their defensive stalwarts like Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, Dre Greenlaw, Fred Warner, Oren Burks, and Charvarius Ward lead a defense ranked fifth in total yards allowed (298.4) per game. They are tied with the Chicago Bears for the best run defense, giving up only 79 yards per game. They also allow the second-fewest points per game (15.8) behind the Ravens (15.6).
