Steelers' Mike Tomlin: Mason Rudolph currently slated to be starting QB on Sunday vs. Seahawks

Head coach Mike Tomlin announced today that the Steelers will stick with Mason Rudolph as the starter on Sunday against Seattle as they monitor Kenny Pickett's (ankle) availability.

"We're in the same position with Kenny as we were last week," Tomlin said. "We'll give him a few reps and kind of see where that leads us."

He continued, "Rudolph is scheduled to be the quarterback for the week. And we'll see where Kenny is. We have the same mentality as we start this week."

Rudolph made his case this past Saturday in a decisive win over AFC North division rivals, Cincinnati Bengals. Rudolph threw for 290 pass yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in the 34-11 win. It was Rudolph's first win as a starter since Week 12, 2019 against Cincinnati (16-10).

The Steelers currently sit in third place in the division with a 13 percent chance of making the playoffs according to the New York Times analysis. They will finish their season against the Seahawks on New Year's Eve and against division rivals and AFC North leaders, the Baltimore Ravens.
