ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp through the Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Imagining one draft for the entire postseason, who should be the top pick?

DAVID DOREY

In a postseason draft, I would go for Christian McCaffrey for obvious reasons. But after him, the main guy has to be Lamar Jackson. The Ravens have already beaten all likely contenders and look like "the team" for the playoffs having already shown up the 49ers recently. The Ravens offense no longer relies on Jackson to score all the rushing touchdowns, but he rises to whatever the occasion needs. And in the playoffs, the defenses are better and Jackson will be the one to respond. The Ravens just appear so dominant in all facets that their quarterback has to be the hot ticket this playoff season.

MIKE NAZAREK

Christian McCaffrey is my first choice, but I say CeeDee Lamb is my No. 2 pick, since he's so hot and the Cowboys should play at least two games if not three-plus in the playoffs!

SCOTT SACHS

Josh Allen is hard to argue with at quarterback, since he plays this weekend against short-handed Pittsburgh defense. Dak Prescott is my 2nd choice due to Dallas averaging almost 40 points in their home games with not much of a running game. I like AJ Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown as receivers. Like Philly to rebound and ARSB should be a target hog with LaPorta probably missing this game. Other than CMC, running back choices include Gibbs and Gus Edwards. Baltimore's Likely works for me at tight end, plus I'll take the Dallas defense, with Brandon Aubrey at kicker.

I like CeeDee Lamb a lot. The numbers he’s been putting up have been pretty remarkable. In his last 12 games, he’s caught 108 passes for 1,391 yards and 11 touchdowns, with another 92 yards and 2 TDs as a runner. That averages out to 9 catches, 124 total yards and just over a touchdown per week. And the Cowboys in my eyes are the safest choice in the playoff field to be playing three games. Their first two will be at home against the Packers and then the Eagles or Bucs. If they can somehow get past the 49ers in the NFC Championship, they’ll be playing four games. If you stack your board using any kind of value-based drafting system, the spread between Lamb and whatever wide receiver you think you might get in the later rounds is dramatically larger than the difference between the top players at any of the other positions (relative to their baseline options). Competitions can vary, but in general, I like Lamb a lot more than anybody else this year.

The key difference between playoff fantasy leagues and regular season leagues is that each player is going to have a wide variance of games played. So the first thing you need to do for each player is map out the playoffs and decide who you think is most likely to play four games. It’s hard to pick a 49er or Raven because they will play three games max, and that’s assuming they don’t get upset. To that end, I think the Cowboys can get to the Super Bowl and so my first pick would be CeeDee Lamb. He’s been unstoppable and should have an edge in games played over all other true alpha receivers.

It's hard to argue with McCaffrey, and Lamb is a nice No. 2. After that, I think a strong case can be made for Kyren Williams, if you believe (as I do) that the Rams are going to win in Detroit this weekend. He's a full-time, three-down back, and the Rams are playing well: their only loss the last half-season was at Baltimore in overtime. If they win in Detroit (against a defense that's been very leaky of late) they probably go to San Francisco, which isn't ideal. Given that, another 49er star -- Deebo Samuel, I think -- should perhaps be an early pick. Big-picture, I want players on the NFC side, as I think there generally will be better defense and more weather concerns in the AFC games (bad this weekend, and it's likely all three remaining games after this week will be played in either Buffalo or Baltimore).
