Diamondbacks sign Joc Pederson to a one-year deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with outfielder Joc Pederson. The two-time Major League Baseball All-Star is a two-time World Series champion, one with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the other with the Atlanta Braves.

During the 2020 World Series, Pederson had four hits in ten at-bats, including a Game 5 home run that clinched the Commissioner’s Trophy for Los Angeles’ National League team. Despite these performances, Pederson signed with the Chicago Cubs the following year and was traded to the Atlanta Braves in July of that year for Bryce Ball.

Pederson filled in for Ronald Acuña, who suffered an ACL tear. It was the right move as the Braves won the World Series, making Pederson a two-time champion.

In 2022, Pederson earned his second MLB All-Star selection after hitting .274 on 104 hits in 380 at-bats for the San Francisco Giants. He added 23 home runs and 70 runs batted in 380 at-bats that year.

In his second season with the Giants, Pederson batted .235 with 84 hits in 425 plate appearances. After ten MLB seasons, Pederson has a .237 batting average with 186 home runs, 786 hits, and 485 RBIs.

He will join a Diamondbacks squad that fell short of the World Series title this season. They have the likes of All-MLB First Team member Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas and Jake McCarthy.
