Ramirez, Riley, Devers lead 3B fantasy baseball rankings

With Spring Training for the 2024 Major League Baseball commencing, Opening Day is around the corner. Therefore, fantasy baseball enthusiasts are already reviewing the numbers and projections to find the best team possible stats-wise.

MLB.com writer Theo DeRosa compiled a list of third basemen based on their capability to deliver the numbers in fantasy baseball. He placed Jose Ramirez, Austin Riley, and Rafael Devers in tier one.

Last season, Ramirez hit .282 with 24 home runs, 81 runs batted in, and 28 stolen bases. He’s had five full seasons with at least 20 steals. The five-time MLB All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger Awardee had 172 hits and 36 doubles in 2023.

Meanwhile, Riley missed only eight games for the Atlanta Braves over the last three seasons. He has 108 home runs from 2021 to 2023 and had a .281 batting average last year. He doesn’t steal as many bases as Ramirez, but he can drive in the points, mainly because the Braves often use him as a cleanup hitter.

Finally, Devers had 100 RBIs last season, the most among third basemen. He hit .271 and had 33 home runs in 2023. Devers has constantly delivered for the Red Sox, playing at least 141 games in each of the last three seasons. Barring any injury or a slump, he will continue to be one of the best hitters in his position.

DeRosa placed 2023 American League Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson, Manny Machado, and Royce Lewis in tier two. His tier three features Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, and Josh Jung. Max Muncy, Alec Bohm, Isaac Paredes, Jake Burger, Ke’Bryan Hayes, and Noelvi Marte are in tier four.
