Ronald Acuña Jr. Escapes Major Knee Injury

When reigning National League Most Valuable Player Ronald Acuña Jr. suffered a right knee injury, Atlanta Braves fans held their breath. For a while, it looked like he suffered an ACL tear, the same injury he dealt with in 2021.

However, their fans are relieved to learn that Acuña won’t need to undergo an operation or miss some playing time. Instead, renowned physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache confirmed that it was only an irritation in the meniscus of his right knee.

According to the Braves' official Twitter account, he will be ready to play on Opening Day.

With Acuña available from the get-go, the Braves can hopefully make a strong start that they can sustain throughout the regular season. Otherwise, his absence will greatly damage the Braves’ cause.

Ronald Acuña Jr. has been a three-time Silver Slugger Award winner and a three-time MLB All-Star in six seasons with the Braves. He already received votes for the National League Most Valuable Player Award during his rookie season.

He finally won NL MVP last year after leading MLB in hits (217), runs (149), stolen bases (73), and on-base percentage. He had a .337 batting average in 643 at-bats and led the majors in total bases with 383. Acuna’s 8.2 Wins Above Replacement is only second to Mookie Betts among all NL MVP vote-getters last season.
