Padres Bounce Back Against Dodgers in 26-Run Game

If the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers bled for runs during the first game of the 2024 Seoul Series, the floodgates opened in their second encounter as the Padres defeated the Dodgers 15-11.

The Padres started the scoring fray by putting up five runs against Japanese ace pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Their display from the batter’s box led to the $325 million pitcher sitting after the opening inning.

While the Dodgers narrowed the gap with two runs in the first and second innings, the Padres completed a four-run third inning, stretching their lead to seven. Los Angeles responded with four runs in the bottom of the third to make it a three-run game.

The Dodgers trimmed the lead to one after scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth. However, San Diego scored three runs in the ninth inning, giving them 15 total. They shut down the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth to secure their first victory in the 2024 MLB season.

Atoning for his wrecked glove that allowed the Dodgers to score additional runs in the previous game, Jake Cronenworth had a spectacular performance. He connected on all four at-bats, scoring two runs and driving in four RBI.

Luis Campusano had three hits and two RBIs, while Manny Machado had three RBIs. Xander Bogaerts contributed three runs, two hits, and two RBIs. Fernando Tatis Jr. had two hits and two runs, while Tyler Wade had two hits, one run, and an RBI.

Mookie Betts led the way for the Dodgers with four hits in five at-bats, two runs, and six RBIs. Jayson Heyward is credited for three runs, while Gavin Lux had two. Shohei Ohtani had one hit in five at-bats.

With the Padres and the Dodgers splitting the two games, the other MLB teams will have Opening Day on March 28.
