Former American League Most Valuable Player Mookie Betts had an opportunity to collect his 1,500th Major League Baseball hit during their Tuesday night game against the San Francisco Giants. But instead of getting a base hit, he made that milestone one to remember.
Betts sent a changeup to the left-field stands when facing a 3-1 count in the bottom of the third inning against 2023 Cy Young Award finals Logan Webb. His solo home run tied the game at 2-2, extending his HR total to a league-leading five.

The home run was one of Betts's two hits in five at-bats. The seven-time All-Star also stole a base in the team's 5-4 victory over intra-state rivals.
The six-time Silver Slugger Award recipient tallied 16 hits in 33 at-bats for a league-leading .485 batting average in nine games. The two-time World Series champion leads the league in runs (14), RBIs (11), on-base percentage (.595), and slugging percentage (1.091). Betts got nine walks in 42 plate appearances.
More importantly, the Dodgers have the league’s best record at 7-2. They’ve won their series against the St. Louis Cardinals and the Giants and are on a three-game winning streak. Betts is on a three-game hitting streak after going blank during the final game of their series against the Cardinals.
Mookie Betts and the Dodgers will have a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs before facing the Minnesota Twins.
