Betts, Soto, Witt Jr. Lead First Hitter Power Rankings For 2024

The official Major League Baseball website published its first Hitter Power Rankings for the 2024 season, and there are no surprises about who’s number one. Mookie Betts is on top after leading the league in runs (14), hits (16), RBIs (11), home runs (5), walks (9), and batting average (.485).

Betts also leads the league in on-base percentage (.595) and slugging percentage (1.091). More importantly, his impressive hitting helped the Los Angeles Dodgers earn a 7-2 record to start their 2024 campaign.

Meanwhile, Juan Soto takes the second spot with ten hits, four RBIs, a home run, three runs, and five walks in seven games. He is hitting .345/.441/.483 and collected 14 total bases. His performance helped the New York Yankees lead the American League East with a 6-1 record.

At third is Bobby Witt Jr., who has 12 hits (including five doubles), two home runs, two RBIs, and seven runs in seven games. He leads the American League in slugging percentage (.893) and total bases (25). But despite his inspired play, the Kansas City Royals are in fourth place in the AL Central at 3-4.

The Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman and reigning National League Most Valuable Player Ronald Acuña Jr. are at numbers four and five, respectively.

Here are the top 10 players in the first Hitter Power Rankings for 2024.
