Anthony Volpe Starting The Season With A Hot Bat

The New York Yankees are leading the American League East with a 9-2 record and shortstop Anthony Volpe is a huge reason for their success.

Through 11 games, he is hitting a league-leading .417, courtesy of 15 hits in 36 at-bats. Volpe has four games with multiple hits and failed to connect with the ball in just two games. In their latest victory against the Miami Marlins, Volpe completed a three-run home run to put the Yankees on the board. They blanked their opponents to win the game 7-0.

Before that game, he had five hits in three matches against the Toronto Blue Jays and had a four-hit game in as many at-bats against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 1. In their season-opening series against the Houston Astros, Volpe had four hits, eight total bases, two RBIs, and a home run.

Volpe's fielding percentage is .964, and he has 30 assists, 24 putouts, and two successful double plays. He is picking up where he left off during his rookie MLB season in 2023 when he finished eighth in the AL Rookie of the Year voting and earned a Gold Glove.

Volpe will try to continue his hot streak when they face the Marlins in the second game of their three-match series on April 9 at 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time.
