Giancarlo Stanton Achieves a Rare Feat Against Former Team

Giancarlo Stanton is among the best hitters in Major League Baseball, as proven by his five All-Star appearances and two Silver Slugger Awards. His ability to generate runs with his bat earned him a 13-year, $325 million contract.

This time, Stanton achieved a rare feat, hitting a solo home run against his former team, the Miami Marlins. This remarkable hit marked him as the 15th active player to have a home run against all 30 MLB teams.

Stanton earned his fourth home run of the 2024 season off a 1-0 sinker by Marlins reliever Bryan Hoeing in the bottom of the sixth inning. He has connected on three homers in the last five Yankees games, with the latest traveling 393 feet from home plate.

But while it’s a massive achievement for the 2017 National League Most Valuable Player, it was not enough to secure the Yankees' victory. Juan Soto’s RBI single, which brought Anthony Volpe home, was the only other run New York scored. The Yankees lost to the Marlins at home 5-2, giving Miami only their second win in 13 games.

While the Yankees had as many hits as the Marlins (6), they couldn’t generate enough runs to secure the win. Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman earned the loss after giving up four runs and four hits in five innings.

As for Miami, Luis Arraez led the way with two hits and an RBI in five at-bats. Jake Burger had three RBIs and a hit in four at-bats.

Despite the defeat, the Yankees won their three-game series against the Marlins. New York will have a one-day break before starting their three-game series versus the Cleveland Guardians on April 12 at 7:10 p.m. Eastern Time.
