Andrew McCutchen Hits 300th MLB Home Run

Designated hitter Andrew McCutchen earned his 300th career home run with the team where he started his Major League Baseball career. It’s his first home run in 2024, helping him become one of four MLB players to reach 300 home runs in a Pirates uniform.

McCutchen earned the impressive feat against one of his former teams, the Philadelphia Phillies. With one player on base in the top of the ninth inning, he drilled a 2-2 pitch by Ricardo Pinto to the left field stands, settling the final score of their April 14 game to 9-2.

It’s his first home run since August 2023 when he went yard against Adam Wainwright. McCutchen earned his 300th home run 15 years after he connected on his first-ever home run. He also hit a home run against every MLB team and earned 216 home runs with the Pirates.

The 2013 National League Most Valuable Player had an excellent game for the Pirates, earning two hits and two RBIs in five at-bats. He also contributed three of Pittsburgh’s nine runs.

However, he’s not even the best Pirates player because the honor goes to left fielder Jack Suwinski, who had four RBIs from a grand slam home run and two hits on four at-bats.

Rowdy Tellez and Ke’Bryan Hayes each had two hits for the Pirates, improving their record to 11-5 after the road victory.

Jared Triolo and Joey Bart each had one hit for Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Mitch Keller pitched seven innings and earned his second victory in three starts for the Pirates.
