Despite a rocky start to the 2024 Major League Baseball season with five consecutive losses, the New York Mets have shown remarkable resilience. Their fortunes changed after defeats to the Milwaukee Brewers and the Detroit Tigers.

They've turned the tide by winning ten of their last 13 games, including notable victories against the Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Chiefs, and a three-game series sweep against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In their latest victory, the Mets dominated the Pirates 9-1. With the Mets already up 6-1 after six innings, they added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to stretch their lead. Right fielder Tyrone Taylor led the way for the Mets with three hits and two RBIs in four at-bats. Brandon Nimmo had two hits in five at-bats, while Pete Alonso added two runs.

That win against Pittsburgh improves the Mets' record to 10-8, putting them 2.5 games behind National League East leaders Atlanta Braves and two games behind second-place Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets can keep their good fortune going when they start a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 19 at 10:10 p.m. Eastern Time. They will close the month with games against the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Cubs.
