Ronald Acuña Jr. won the 2023 National League Most Valuable Award after leading all Major League Baseball players in runs (149), hits (217), on-base percentage (.418) and stolen bases (73).

The last stat helped him establish a new Braves record for career stolen bases since the franchise transferred to Atlanta in 1966. Acuña completed his 190th stolen base, passing three-time MLB All-Star shortstop Rafael Furcal.

Acuña made the record-setting steal in the first inning of their April 22 game against the Miami Marlins. It’s also his tenth stolen base in 2024, putting him one behind Elly De La Cruz for the MLB lead.

In 21 games, Acuña is hitting .293/.408/.378 with one home run and six RBIs. More importantly, the Braves are a game in front of the Philadelphia Phillies for the National League East lead.

While he’s still a solid batter, his power hasn’t been there yet compared to last season when he became the first player in MLB history to have 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases in a season.

Acuña’s star continues to shine bright in his seventh MLB season. Maintaining or improving from his current pace can add to his four All-Star selections and three Silver Slugger Awards.

Ronald Acuña Jr. and the Braves will try to maintain their winning ways when they face the Marlins again on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
