One of the architects of the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty won’t go anywhere as head coach Andy Reid signed a contract extension with the AFC West franchise. This development dispels the rumors that he might retire after the 2023 season.

Reid’s new contract will expire after the 2029 NFL season. While the deal’s full details remain a secret, “Big Red” will stay with Kansas City until he turns 72 years old. According to CBS Sports National Insider Jonathan Jones, Reid will also become the highest-paid head coach in the league.

Andy Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013 after the Philadelphia Eagles fired him. He was the Eagles’ top mentor from 1999 to 2012, leading them to one Super Bowl appearance and multiple playoff berths.

After a decade with the Chiefs, Reid has become a three-time Super Bowl champion, guiding the team to victory in Super Bowls 54, 57, and 58.

While Reid is secure of a job for six more seasons, their first order of business is to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Reid’s genius will be manifested by their talented roster, led by All-Pros Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones.

Andy Reid has a 284-160-1 career head coaching record. In addition to his three Super Bowl titles, he is also the 2002 Associated Press Coach of the Year.

In other news, the Chiefs also signed general manager Brett Veach and team president Mark Donovan to contract extensions.
