Question

Trent Sherfield has signed with the Vikings, giving him the opportunity to potentially catch a pass for a fifth different team in five years. He spent the last four seasons with Arizona, San Francisco, Miami and Buffalo. That would be impressive, but there is an active player with an even longer streak. What active player has caught at least one pass for a new team six years in a row?

Answer

Nick Vannett. The tight end started his career with Seattle and caught passes there through the 2018 season. From 2019 to present, he’s caught passes for the Steelers, Broncos, Saints, Giants and Chargers. He is currently still on the Chargers (so he’ll need to move to a new team if he wants to keep that streak alive). DeAndre Carter also would have a six-year streak, but he played for the Bears in 2020 without catching a pass.
