All rise for Aaron Judge as the New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge surpassed Derek Jeter in the all-time home run list with his 261st hit over the fence. Judge overtook the long-time Yankees captain during their April 24 game against the Oakland Athletics.

With a 1-2 count in the bottom of the first inning, Judge sent Joe Boyle’s pitch soaring over the right field wall, securing a 2-0 lead for the Yankees. This powerful hit set the tone for the game, leading the Yankees to their second consecutive victory over the Athletics with a final score of 7-3.

That hit gave Judge four home runs and 13 RBIs for the season. It’s also a nice boost to his struggling bat because he is hitting .191/.319/.383 after 25 games. While he has 18 hits in 113 plate appearances, he has 31 strikeouts and grounded into a double play seven times.

Against the Athletics, Judge had two hits and one run in five plate appearances. Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, and Anthony Rizzo each had two hits, while Juan Soto earned two runs. Meanwhile, Clarke Schmidt gave up three runs and four hits while striking out six batters in 5.1 innings for New York.

The Yankees have won two in a row against the Athletics, helping them preserve their half-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East. They will try to close their series with the Athletics on a high note during their series closer on April 25 at 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time.
